Visit the Mas d’Azil : a geological curiosity

The visit of the caves of Mas d’Azil, a “must” not to be missed during your stay.

Unmissable, impressive, fantastic… Words are too few to describe one of the most famous and visited paleolithic sites in Europe.

Through reproductions of paintings and engravings, imagine the ways and conditions of life of early man. Accompanied by our guide, you will discover the work done by archaeologists for years to trace their history.

The study of engravings and sculptures made by the Cro-Magnon men, and of animal bones dating from the first ice age offer today a very precise interpretation.

Discover the beautiful city of Pamiers

Pamiers is the birthplace of the great composer and musician Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924) and has a remarkable heritage.

Pamiers invites you to visit historical monumentsThe city has a lot to offer, such as the wonderful Cathedral with its magnificent organ, the medieval canals around the city, the famous Notre-Dame church with its beautiful crenellated facade or the amazing little Romanesque church of Mas Vieux outside the city in the middle of nature.

The Carmel, a religious site located in the heart of Pamiers, is a 17th century architectural jewel. From its foundation in 1648 to 2008, it has been home to sisters of the Carmelite order who have dedicated their lives to prayer in this place totally isolated from the outside world.

The town hall of Pamiers bought the Carmel in 2012, it is gradually becoming a place dedicated to culture. Every Saturday morning, don’t miss the market and discover all the local specialties.

Foix and its castle

Located in Ariège at the foot of the Pyrenees, Foix is a place of culture and entertainment.

The castle of Foix is part of the richness of its historical heritage. Discover the atmosphere of a village from another era at the Forges de Pyrène. For a natural moment, the underground river of Baulou offers you a walk in a unique site.

Visit the Foix market every Friday morning to stock up on souvenirs.

Carcassonne, the queen of medieval cities

Not to be missed! Allow yourself a day to discover Carcassonne. This city, known for its ramparts and its castle, has been classified as a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1997.

Discover Toulouse, the pink city

This beautiful pink city, in the southwest of France, invites you to stroll through its narrow streets.

Toulouse, capital of Occitania, is the city of colors: pink brick facades, light blue shutters, its flower La Violette, the blue of pastel. You will fall in love with this city which offers you walks, historical monuments, museums, squares, small stores and very good catering.

Carla Bay, art village

Carla Bay is the art village of Ariege!

This small picturesque village, located on the top of a hill, offers a fantastic view. It is an opportunity to visit its numerous artists’ galleries and to discover the history of the artists who have forged its reputation.

It is also the birthplace of Pierre Bayle, French philosopher, writer and lexicographer born in 1647. In July-August, Le Carla-Bayle, celebrates the plastic arts festival “Rue des Arts”.

Visit the medieval city of Mirepoix

Welcome to Mirepoix, a medieval village with a unique charm. In any season, come and discover its history and its beautiful bastide.

Mirepoix was rebuilt according to the regular plans of the bastides, after the village suffered a massive flood in 1289. Admire the 15th century convents, the beautiful half-timbered houses and the wooden galleries.

Also worth a visit is the ancient cathedral of Saint Maurice with its impressive dimensions of 22m wide. In April and November, the streets of Mirepoix come alive for your pleasure.

Not to be missed: the big market on Monday morning.
